Rhodamine labeled cholesterol is able to incorporate into cell membrane or membrane of liposome. Strong red fluorescence from tetramethylrhodamine can be easily detected by common fluorometers or fluorescent microscope.Cholesterol rhodamine conjugate thus can be used for membrane imaging applications.
