Cholesterol fluorescein is a lipophilic fluorescent conjugate that has a cholesterol moiety. Cholesterol is an essential cell membrane component that has high hyhydrophobicity. Fluorescein labeled cholesterol is able to incorporate into cell membrane or membrane of liposome. Strong green fluorescence from fluorescein can be easily detected by common fluorometers or fluorescent microscope. Cholesterol fluorescein conjugate thus can be used for membrane imaging applications.
