Biopolymer modification & conjugation service
Description: Biopolymers, including polysaccharides, polyamino acids and many other biocompatible polymeric materials, have been used widely as drug carriers, medical device coatings, diagnostic components, as well as gene transfection materials. Surface modification and conjugation of functional ligands to these biopolymers enable them with unique properties that can be used in many areas. For instance, fluorescently labeled polysaccharides have strong optical signal that can be easily detected and traced both in-vitro and in-vivo thus useful for neuron and blood vessel imaging. Depends on biopolymer species, a number of functional groups, such as amines, carboxylic acids and aldehydes, can be used for modification. These functional groups, can be further derived with other functional groups, such as thiols, azides or alkyne groups for additional chemical modification. Nanocs has been a long time expert in the field of site specific bio-modification and conjugation for biopolymers. During the past decade, we have developed a handful reagent for various functional group modifications. A number of bioconjugation reagents, including fluorophores, biotins, PEG derivations, are readily available from our conjugation reagent tool pools.
